Overspray on Your Car's Paint 1

You might not realize it, but you most likely have overspray on your car. That bumpy stuff on the hood that you can’t identify? That’s overspray. At least, that’s what we call it inside the auto restoration industry. You may call it, “that gritty feeling that makes my car not as shiny anymore.” Don’t worry. We’re not sticklers about the terminology. Here’s an explanation of what overspray is, and how we handle it to get your vehicle’s shine back.

WHAT IS OVERSPRAY?

Contamination and paint overspray are the terms we use to describe any particulate that sits on top of the clear coat of the vehicle. As a result, there is usually a rough and gritty texture on the vehicle’s surface.

Some overspray, like fire soot and chemical fallout, settle very low on the clear coat and will seep into the pores of the finish. This requires a deep polish using our proprietary releasing agents to repair the vehicle. This overspray must be removed before having  paint protection added to your car.

HOW DOES OVERSPRAY ON YOUR CAR HAPPEN?

Wind is one of the biggest reasons for overspray. When road crews use paint spraying rigs on windy days, your car catches what the wind carries. Indoor paint booths and metal foundries have a default in their filters that directs extra contaminants outdoors, and the wind carries those particulates right out to the roadways.

Chemical and petroleum plant stacks occasionally have blowouts, which as a result, leave many neighboring businesses and residents with fallout damage.

Construction projects can cause overspray in numerous ways, too. Wet cement, road paint, and fresh asphalt/tar are some of the most noteworthy.

DOES OVERSPRAY REMOVAL HARM THE VEHICLE’S FINISH?

Our non-abrasive overspray removal process will not harm the vehicle’s finish in any way. In most every case the vehicle will look better than before the overspray incident occurred.

HOW MUCH DOES OVERSPRAY REMOVAL COST?

The cost to remove overspray from a vehicle varies depending on the type of overspray, vehicle size, and the location of the spray on the vehicle. You can set up a free consultation today.

IS THE PROCESS SAFE FOR MY VEHICLE?

Our process is manufacturer approved and dealership recommended. Our overspray removal process removes only the contaminant. Above all, the integrity of the clear coat remains fully intact.

At Ai AutoWorks, we’re committed to helping you preserve your investment in your vehicle. Keeping the pain smooth and chip-free will keep your resale value up for the future.
